This elusive creature may or may not reside in the Jenkinson Lake area south of Pollock Pines, CA. It is known to be extremely aggressive albeit slow. This turtle may be recognizable by the recent TV commercials it stared in for high speed Internet. While Mt. Biking please use extreme caution when approaching, the Pond Turtle is known to possess extraordinary ninja skills.
What a perfect lead in for my planned post. One my regular secret training ride through Apple Hill, I'd just turned onto Carson Road and noticed something in the road. Low and behold it was a Pond Turtle, I shit you not. The poor guy was retracted as he got hit on his hind side, shell cracked. I hope he was just 'hiding'. I picked him up and put him on the other side of the fence, no ponds to be seen. I may go back and check on him and find him a better home. Interesting Earth day event for sure. Can't believe the coincidence. I hope I tallied some Karma credits.
