Reports of a wild beast in Pollywood kept several riders at home last week. Four boldly rode. Sure enough, as we were tread deep, something came crashing through the brush. Cappy captured it in the photo below:
Two FT3ers can be seen fleeing.
After chasing the creature back into the dark woods, Cappy rejoined the rest of us, who had been standing around and criticizing his bike.
To keep the beast at bay, we sang carols. Newb noticed that singing allowed him to crush the descents more lustily.
Back in the Knott lot, just as we were most un-kitted, Mother Rye rushed out to announce that Lars was at the Taco Table. To prove that he is still RideLeader, Lars introduced a friend of his who invited us to explore his Pollywood property on mountain bikes. We all made merry.
Since then, snow and cold.
XT and I checked out conditions over the weekend and confirmed, snow and cold.
Crusty snow?
Tour de Steeps/Hobo with taco shuttle?
Ride up, taco, ride back?
(Special addition by NoHandle )
Since I can't get the real thing at the Knot Hole, I have to eat the Costco version from now on.

ReplyDeleteWell well, last ride of the 2015 year for FT3.
ReplyDeleteWhat a year it has been, lets recap :
gen 2 is coming along nicely with No Cars addition.
Council man made it a whole year without attending FT3.
Bambi made true to his previous years resolution of riding more.
RG didn't buy a new bike.
Dude came - and left.
Buttons most likely holds best attendance record.
Poor B destroyed a car - and lives to tell the tail.
Green Fro saved on chain lube and got a whole new bike just in time (cat is out of the bag).
I added another seed to gen 2.
No Handel got chicken bake - possibly for the first time ever.
Spawn spawned yet another addition to the 2 gen.
Lars moved away.
Xteric discovered shin guards.
Cappy's one wheel in the grave is still holding air pressure and shredding.
Partial Credit disappeared - most likely moving large trees out of the way for FT3.
And last but not least, Mother Rye and Even Keel decided to wash their hands of Taco Grease forever and move on, closing another chapter in the rich history we like to call Polly Wood.
I'd say a pretty busy year. Can't wait to see what 2016 brings.
Nice recap.
DeleteJust not a mountain bike. Still doing my best to keep the two wheeled economy flourishing. :-)
DeleteSweet note Newb, pretty entertaining. I was compelled to post an image from my freezer to this weeks posting given your comments about getting Checken Baked.
ReplyDeleteI'm out. I'd hate to ruin a string of poor attendance by riding tonight. Not to mention, I'm feeling Petery and the conditions have me scared.
ReplyDeleteIn, if it is a Tour d'p'villd Steeps. (Meet at Jerry's at 6, ride at 6:30?) UL
ReplyDeleteWhatever you all decide, I am sure it will be awesome. I am out, going out of town for New Year's and have some prep to do. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the year recap Newb!
Wow! Peter party for Cappy and NoHandle. Remember when those guys used to kick ass? Sometime back in 2015...
ReplyDeleteBack channel from Newb is a vote for Pollywood. I prefer riding Pollywood as well, even it it means a slippery jog around the lake while pushing our bikes.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, not much debate on the matter since FT3 has gotten so soft.
This might be the last time Mother Rye is at the Knott, and her pouring wrist might be especially loose...
XT votes to meet at Mosquito, ride the railroad tracks, and then he will drive everyone (4 so far) to tacos and back.
ReplyDeleteThere was crust on the ground, even in Camino yesterday. You should check with Buttons/Spawn before heading up. RR or local dirt might be a better bet. UL
ReplyDeleteNewb's reply to XT:
ReplyDeleteWell. That's one opinion. I say slay the snow and avoid the super horse poop mud.
XT now suggests that we mountain bike Kirkwood.
ReplyDeleteSo everyone meet at the mosquito lot?
ReplyDeleteOK
ReplyDeleteLast minute change. Meet at knot hole. FT3 is going for it.
DeleteOK. Enjoy your ride. I just don't feel like heading up the road this evening. UL
