The frustration today is of a level that puts P3 to shame, having planned an entire pre-race week of training around a good FT3 outing, that is exactly what I am doing, "outing" myself from the ride. Can't make it, can't get out of the item that "pop" just showed up on the calendar, just can't do it...so I am out. Which is OK, as I will use this anger to grab the hoods and drive the bike faster come Sunday. That's right Cappy, CX is about driving! No rolling along with the hands draped over the hoods on Sunday! Quite to the contrary, when the whistle blows you are grabbing those hoods and driving around grassy corners, over barries, and through the woods, but it ain't to grandmas house we are going...can Cap'n return to the podium? Can RG recover from the long road season? Will the Venison wild card rear up and attack? Does the home CX course give THTH (ToHotToHandle) an advantage? WILL THERE BE ANY CHICKS IN THE RACE!?!?!
Sunday Oct 24, Sac CX race #2, Ione CA!!!!
Although the home CX course building party did not produce the turn out previously anticipated, I will say that the Big Oak venue has a lot to offer. Thanks to THTH for offering up some great PBR tasting and a fantastic walk of the estate after dinner! That course will tear your legs off if you are not careful. No literally, it will tear your legs off, I think I needed like four or five stitches due to attack brambles! Thanks again, the Barnes clan had a ton of fun!
Sundays have been pretty lacklust of late. Oh well, hopefully everyone's DTI is ready for a big showing on Sunday.
Trails should be approaching epic tonight. A good rainfall on Sun/Mon firmed up the dust that was coming back and added a good amount of moisture to the trails as they firm up for winter!
Out!

ReplyDeleteOut Sunday. My training of late is sort of like the attendance on Sat - almost nonexistent. I big thanks to my really good friend NoCar for making the solo showing and getting the job done. We completed the most important part of the loop and gave it a test run.
Stuck on the leash today. I still view this website weekly to see how rides went. Have fun out there and remember: safety first!
ReplyDeleteI am totally in for Sunday, but for tonight, something popped onto my calendar too. I may have to go to a meeting tonight. Dang it. I am trying desperately to get out of it. That is why I am not posting a number. Hope this doesn't screw the count off. Hope I am back later with a positive report.
ReplyDeleteVenison Wild card = Bambi. Did I win a door prize? And to think I decoded it without a decoder ring.
ReplyDeleteNo Door prize, I will just let you line up next to me on Sunday rather than one row behind Turbo Lars!
ReplyDeletetwo.
ReplyDeleteB. and I resoldered the connections on my direct from China Happy Sunshine light, and it's better than ever. i won't be making any more wrong turns into the lake tonight.
NoCar, how does it feel to be the new blog cover boy?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to remain humble about it, but I do think its a better shot than I've seen on the cover of any mtn biking mags. Credit the unflagging photographer.
ReplyDeleteRumors abuzz that the strawberry kirkwood loop is being slated for friday. now with less GPS consultation and improved orientation to maximize hydration opportunities.
ReplyDeleteAnd that was natural light, no filter needed.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is really amazing: looks like Caples lake with Round top in the background. I have yet to explore that area by bicycle.
ReplyDeleteI'm out. I picked up a bug and need to lay low. I also pulled a low speed Lars on my solo high altitude outing near the above cover photo. No major damage. Lesson learned - when you go to pull off a maneuver and note to self you're going fall, odds are it will happen.
ReplyDeleteI'll check back in about Sunday, still not feeling the stoke for CX racing. It may be a November premier this year.
What with all these "popping calendars" (on-sale in the feminine hygiene section of wal-mart) mosquito might not have a car shuttle. I may have to drape the hoods and drive the crosser like a sunday rider. If such is the case, any objections to sneaking in a CX evening NoHandle?
ReplyDeleteI successfully jumped over fire and I am IN tonight. It was a tough sell but I made it through without getting burned. NoCar, I will drive up from Mosquito lot. Let me know if you decide to ride though so I don't unnecessarily stop at the lot.
ReplyDeleteThree.

If it is a mtn bike outing than I would certainly prefer to conform to the group and ride the proper steed. Thank you, Cap'n I would appreciate the ride up. That said, it sure is fun to ride the mtn bike down the hill, and I am certainly game for that.
ReplyDeleteNow if you all would excuse me, I'm heading to the Brick oven for a ball game and beers.
ReplyDeleteI'll be riding fat tires this week, all bikes are welcome but I just prefer the 29er on the epic conditions we'll encounter tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'll have a pre-preBR shortly NoCar, you are excused.
No Car, you bastard! While I have the CX here now, I am going home to retrieve the proper fat tire steed. Epic conditions certainly warrent that. Not to mention it is the middle of the month, not even close to SS/CX FT3.
ReplyDeletesign in word : vallumic,
I think they are on to me.
Still in Tango mode, but hoping to get home, kids in bed, and maybe a roll up for 4-2-1. I can provide a ride home, B, if it goes down as such. I'm on the calendar for Friday. Weather looks like it might cooperate. Colder, but sunshine on Fri. Storms on Sat. Bring it!
