Anything But Routine

As we have all come to know, tuesdays, at least the FT3 part, are anything but routine. There is the routine of gathering the gear on Monday night, determining the DTI, and the following night's weather. Will there be a storm? As for tomorrow, forecast calls for rain. At the time of this particular call out, there is a 100% chance. Over the weekend, the weather was fair, and a fair bit of riding took place by a disbanded band of FT3 brotheren. B took down some A-town trails on a saturday outing. Lars summoned the crew for a ridiculously early road call out for the pithy or crazy on Sunday. Cap'n suffered mightly through another Cool Mountain Bike race, finishing 7th in the Single Speed category. NoHandle conquered another Solvang Century. By all accounts, riding is a routine that all FT3 riders agree about. With soreness in my legs and spring on my mind, I present this call out to go ride in a line. The rain will fall, and storms will come, as they occasionally do, but the band of FT3 brothers will get out and do what they do.

Ride like the wind,
Cap'n

Solvang was great as per usual. Feeling petery about the weather and such. Sure was nice in So Cal last Saturday

  2. Oh wait, Peter just got a mood adjustment looking across the office at my new (hand-me-down) road wheels. Sweet!

wheels have spokes, but no tubes.
They have carbon and are a close relative of XTR but on the other side of the family.

  4. Out tonight - business meeting and dinner.

Stay warm and dry, at least the under layers.

BTW - Last week's mechanically induced crash left me with that chain ring tatoo I've always wanted.

  5. So these wheels are a stepchild or cousin to XTR, sans tubes, but with Carbon? Someone has a sweet hookup, indeed. I have been accused of not providing much in the way of post-surgical/rehab info. I am 1 month out from the scope work done to clean out the damaged meniscus in my left knee. Surgery was successful, and progress is good. I am still on a trainer, about 20-30 min intervals, and some Physical Therapy exercises for strength. Gotta keep those quads and hams from atrophy. Should be riding normally by late April. Status for 24 is unknown. Based on a lack of base miles and qualifying events, I will likely have to sit this year out. Will know more in the next month or 2.

  6. It is notable that tonight's rollout will be a lights off rollout, provided the storm doesn't slow departure too much. It is my hope for an efficient roll out in order to maximize the lights-off riding.

NoHandle, it is cool that you got wheels and are trying to taunt us with them. Let's save the taunting for some jaunting up 193 and other classic california climbs. That's where those wheels will really shine.

And the count holds at three. I suspect the forces of Peter are strong tonight.

  7. I did find a satisfactory bolt, allowing me to sit during the penance ride. It's unfortunate more couldn't join us for our beautiful, early spring tour of gated communities. No doubt the more pious amongst us were busy with their sunrise ablutions; namely flogging themselves with frayed shifter cables while reciting Armstrong quotations.

  8. Other side of the family? STX? LX? Korean one-offs?

  9. Wasn't "...done, showered and six beers in" another Armstrong bon mot?

  12. I just trimmed an old pair of rain pants at the knees. Only fashion choice left is whether to wear them over the bibs for maximum rain shedding, or under for minimum seat hangups.

Peter will no doubt be enjoying his unmodified Snuggie on the couch this evening.
