Find your Fender

I consulted with the farmer's almanac and found a troubling indicator for Tuesday March 27th 2012, in the Pollock Pines area:

I'm guessing that: rain + saturated soils + slushy persistent snow + packed trails = MUD

Not that anyone in the FT3 pack is afraid of mud. In fact, we thrive on it. The worst thing that a rider can do is avoid the mud for too long. Because, then skills decrease, handling becomes erratic and uncertain, which leads to
Epic Failures

So take a dose of preventative medicine and head for the trails.

  1. Thanks for getting the call-out out NoCar. I was wondering where the enthusiasm for riding was today. Will this be the day that mother nature pays Cappy back for the disappointing fake out last year where she let him down and didn't bring enough furry but he had all the right clothing for winter's worst?

I'm ready for whatever happens. TWO.

  2. That's a great call out Nocar. With the predicted wet weather and a forecast of "rainfall may reach one inch" the photos do add character to the post. I'm out tonight as I have to stay within arms reach of town. I may drop by for a proper send off.

  4. Wow! The HCF is blowing up.
This just in. We are heading over to Auburn tonight, we got a hook up w/some guys from one of the shops there and they put out a challenge so NoCar and I are going to represent. It could be a rumble.

  5. I've got to install a warrantied derailleur after work. Time will be tight, but I hope to roll down to the Mosq lot. If I am having major mechanical difficulties, I will send a text.

Ready to rumble, but, um, are we going to have gas station food for dinner again?

  6. The ride mapped out is 49 miles with mostly dirt and some road. I was told te expect about 16 miles per hr avereage, so it could be a long night. It was suggested to grab a 40 for the jersey pocket.

  8. Just got a call from Paul. He trumped us. He is having the Auburn guys over for viewings of old Spring Classics and serving Belgun beers but strongly suggested that certain "groups" were discouraged from attending. I think he is trying to save the other guys face b/c they were worried about the weather. I guess it is just the hard core back up in pollywood tonight.

  10. THTH: In exchange for a Camino pick up I will supply pre-BRs, cover your whole tab AND pay full ride fare at the current Cappy rate.

  11. Wow, I can't pass that up. Will you bring a tarp or easy up for the parking lot too? I'll take my chance on the last part and pick you up at the V-Lot in Camino.

  13. Holding out, and holding up in a hotel room in Palo Alto. Doing my spring intensive for school, but home on Friday. Looks like I'm missing a wintry mix and all the fixins. Mostly, I'm missing pre-BRs and fellowship. Godspeed tonight.
