Handmade Tacos or Handmade Bikes?

Amazing developments in the North State. It seems that winter is going to make a 2 day appearance, the Maloof's seemed to have reached a deal for an Kings arena in Sacramento and the Handmade bike show is in the great Capital City this weekend.

All exciting news, but I've got all the handmade bikes I can ride, don't make it out to NBA games much (err ever), and am not impressed w/the pending weather. More importantly tonight is all about single track, primo conditions and handmade TACOS!

Come prepared for any type of weather. Who will be in attendance to greet this wonderful weather.

  1. Should be beautiful tonight, freezing rain that turns to snow just as the ride ends. Classic FT3 conditions. I would love to be among the hard men, but I'm out. Alissa has been bed ridden for three days and I've been busting my nuts trying to get us moved.

  2. Dang, the HCF needs an HTFU today.
Reading NoCar's post, I can't help but imagine him pedalling up the bike path with load after load of gear; couches, washer/dryers on his bike trailer. Man, that must really bust your nuts after a few trips. My offer still stands should you opt for a car powered option.

Considering the Old Soldier for tonight, but having recently applied the tubless again on the carbon ride I'm inclined to enjoy that tonight. How many gears will you be rolling B?

  3. Given the elevation difference, and lacking an organized armada of cargo bikes and trailers I rented a uhaul. I sure did piss off a lot of dog walkers and joggers when I drove it up the bike path.

  4. the pollywood cam is showing the slightest of white stuff beginning to blow around, but you have to look close, nothing on the ground yet.
    B, are you buying PreBRs

  5. Cappy I know you are reading and buying your time, waiting for Paul to chime in that he is riding. Your lack of comments is proof that you are still a probably.

  6. I think RG has decided he no longer need comment on the blog. Alas, he, Cappy, and Xteric have also eschewed the Mosquito Lot carpool meet up.

  7. Was wondering when that Mosquito lot topic would resurface.

  8. Damn, THTH, you are stunning in that red on red pic above. Against the white backdrop, it's a visual masterpiece. I'd be in, but I'm about 17 hours, 2 car rides, and a flat tire away. As you prepare for some wintry mix, my area is warming up nicely. Will post soon, after I heal up from my last ride/collision with tree. Enjoy the perfect conditions. :)

  9. Last year we rode through sleet, snow, freezing rain, rain and more rain regularly. This year it is a hard man effort (insert voice of Paul saying "Huh"). I should hope this supposed storm does not dissapoint.

The count is now up to a measly THREE.

Back channel attempt at Xteric remains unanswered. Bambi is out, but it has nothing to do with the weather.

NoCar, you do realize that we were in route to the Mosquito lot when you decided to "go away quietly."

Tonight, I will be at the Moquito lot at 5:45. NoCar, if you ride tonight - I will pick you up. I will also try not to be late so you can't change your mind.

  10. C-man, good to hear from you. Glad you are blog watching and riding. Sorry to hear you hit a tree. It must have been the Fausto Coppi.

  11. And just to be thorough, I too will be riding a one speed. Less gears more beers? Yes, please.

  12. We have a four pack. Xteric is in. He might not make it to the Mosquito lot, tho.

  13. Is that what happened? I could swear you said that you were at the Knott Lott when we spoke. I couldn't figure out why you were giving me such a hard time for abandoning the Mosquito Lot when no one was there.

  14. Yes indeed NoCar. The last minute wrenching at the Spoke set us back (see blog posting "Phat Tuesday Slips Quietly Away) from last week.

  15. Oh and by the way.

B, you are buying Pre-BR's for your infraction of not being present on an overly-hyped Phat Tuesday. You could have visited your uncle and skipped the ski trip to come ride and kick off Phat Tuesday with us.

Mmm. I can taste that Pre-BR now.

How am I doing with my fashionably tardy debut?

  16. Well done Cap&39:n also know as Cappy.
If you change your nickhandle to Cappy officially you can get rid of that pesky character that is throwing in those annoying "escape" characters.

    Nice avitar!
I'm leaning towards more of B's PreBRs

  17. Pretty shady assigning a disciplinary action for a missed ride to the FT3er with the best attendance record.

  18. NoCar, you really should come to the ride tonight so you can voice your concerns in person. Happy to continue that discussion after the ride and over tacos, and well after Pre-BR's.

Nice of you to look out for B though, since you too were part of the Phat Tuesday puff up, before it puffed out of existence. Another reason you should show up, to share the Pre-BR bill with B.

  19. I'm out, bogged down in meeting quagmire for 6+ hours today.

The ride plans on the coast last week were cut a bit short due to my declining ability to bounce off the ground and not notice the lingering pain.

I'll get some tune up rides in to sharpen up the game, then join you hooligans.

Anyone game for a handmade bike show trip to stoke the cycling fever? What day is lining up as best for an FT3 viewing?

  20. I was hoping friday, I was hoping Saturday, alas, it is likely neither will work. I am holding out a small measure of hope for Friday.

  21. It was not entirely un public; quote from last weeks "Phat Tuesday Slips Quietly Away" post "A tired and unenthused (but ever ready) B showed up for the taco part."
