Time to Put Your Tacos Where Your Mouth Is

The FT3 Untethered experiment has been nothing less than a radiant success. Since the very beginning, the tacos have been delicious

and the rides have been exceptional.

But, for this year, the nights of high mountain, full moon madness are behind us.

As are the nights of leisurely sipping rye and gorging on pie.

Last week got the littlest taste of what is to come, as developing showers forced the end of the taco session and one rider described it as "the coldest I've been in my life."

The Tuesday Pollywood forecast is for six inches of snow between 4 and 10 pm. We could ride lower, but that would mean riding in rain instead of snow (lame). Since this is the start of the storm, it is unlikely that the snow will begin sticking immediately. However, it will start accumulating before we finish eating tacos, so it may be treacherous trying to haul a trailer out of the normal parking spot. Alternatives could be either the equestrian pull out or the EID pay parking lot, as both have a downhill exit. Whatever we decide, the ride will probably be on the short side as we will need to devote time and energy to figuring out how we can have a relatively warm and dry dinner.

  1. I'm in. I can bring an EZ up but don't have a fire/heater to offer. I'd like to hear more about the "coldest..my life" comment, sounds like someone was not well prepared for FT3 in Nov.

  2. Coldest in my life comment came from New Rider whom we call O'Bryan. He is cutting his teeth with FT3 the hard way. Two high mountain rides and no qualifier, but he is qualified accordingly. It is notable that he made that statement without a shiver or complaint. Had he not said that I neither XT nor I would have known he was that cold. Three, who is hauling the trailer. NoHandle do you have sides for that Ez up? I may invest in a propane tank mounted warmer today.

  3. We have XT's propane heater and I have an extra tank. I am bringing an EZ up and a couple tarps to strap on the sides. Fro is bringing the fire pit, so any dry small diameter wood will be helpful.

  4. Also, Fro will be bringing the taco kitchen in his truck, to avoid hauling a trailer in the snow.

  5. And, the parking spot, what's the preference, the open area at thetop of Park Creek Road or the equestrian pullout spot along MET opposite Ferrari Mill Road? Or other?

  6. Thanks for the planning and hauling. I do have an EZ Up with proper zip on sides - i'll see if I can dig it out. I'm OK w/whatever for parking but my pref. would be to see how the pavement looks at go-time and attempt to park a blue gouge. We all have 4wd right?
