Spring is creeping up from the valley. Yesterday, B and I enjoyed a ride through verdant splendor: wildflowers burst onto the trail, we threshed though top tube high grass, and felt the gentle caress of poison oak dragging across our skin.
Conditions should be perfect tonight. So good, in fact, that RG may step away from his road bike and join us on the single track. That's what he said last week anyway.
RG: Damn, you guys are having too much fun without me. I'm committing to an early ONE! for next week.
ONE!
ReplyDeleteTwo.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone has other plans tonight. Probably dancing around fertility poles and occupying City Hall.
Secret Training Alert!
ReplyDeleteAccording to sources familiar with FT3, Bambi wasn't riding at a sub-optimal clip last week because of sickness (as he claimed), but because he had exhausted himself on a 36 mile unsupported jog a couple days prior.
We can do an efficient Blue Bus single vehicle shuttle. Does that mean a Valero stop? I can be at Mosquito Lot by 5:30.
ReplyDeleteI will be picking up the Spot from the Spoke around 5. Should be able to make it to the Mosq. Lot by 5:30 no problem.
ReplyDeleteImportant Back Channel Communique:
ReplyDeleteXteric and Cappy will be riding up on crossers after their baseball game ends ~6:30. They hope to meet up with us on the dirt. I explained the space constraints for the return shuttle.
I guess that puts the count at 5.
ReplyDeleteThanks to B who stopped his nifty honda car in the traffic lane to allow the 40+ bike riders kicking off Bike Month to safely cross Forni Road to the El Dorado Trail. Big ups to Safety, who was the only FT3er present at this ride (besides me, the organizer). In typical cappy fashion I gave B a good scolding for being present at the bike ride in his car. What was more insulting was that his bike was on the rack. That being said, I am sure he was headed to Golden Spoke for some last minute wrenching, because, after all, it is Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteIt is notable that there was a long rider out there today. An overweight gentleman in a Sac Wheelman jersey long rode the whole group by riding into town then back up Ray Lawyer after the ride. "I needed some extra miles," he said. Proper.
Game ends at 7:00pm. Should be rolling up there by 7:30. I need some extra miles too, and I suppose I will get them if there is no vehicle for X and I to hop in at the end of the night. And if that occures, I bet B and NoCar will join us, leaving Rock to drive home alone.
Long riding is cool and all, but I'll take the shuttle ride if I can get it. Especially since I'll have to ride back up from the Mosq lot.
ReplyDeleteIf I can get a shuttle back down that would be ideal. I have an early important meeting tomorrow....
ReplyDeleteOr I suppose I can short taco and head right back down the hill.
ReplyDeleteI can taste that X factor sauce now.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with Nocar trying to blow my secret training cover? I am out this week.
ReplyDeleteB, do you have any tentative dates for Kwood and other rides?
I have a receiver hitch; should work. How do we get it hooked up and make Mosquito Lot by 5:30?
ReplyDeletethat works - 5:30.
DeleteThanks for the regards captain. The lunch ride today was indeed spectacular and well organized. Captain delivered a remarkable speech prior to the roll out and juicy turkey sandwiches with flavorful chips awaited our return. I must have missed B on the lunch ride. As I'm required to not stray too far from town this week, I'm am out for tonight. Perhaps I'll swing by for a proper send off at mosquito lot. Have a great ride!
